🐌 Assassin Snail
(Clea helena)
Small but mighty — the Assassin Snail is the ultimate natural solution for tanks overrun with pest snails.
Recognisable by their beautiful yellow-and-brown spiral shells, these little hunters move gracefully across the substrate, keeping unwanted snail populations in check without disturbing shrimp or plants.
💛 Despite their fierce name, Assassin Snails are calm, tidy tankmates. They’re completely shrimp-safe, spending most of their time burrowed in the substrate or gliding slowly around, helping maintain balance in your aquarium.
💧 Care & Parameters
They thrive in stable, mineral-rich water and are easy to keep:
🌡️ Temperature: 22 – 28 °C (72 – 82 °F)
⚖️ pH: 7.0 – 8.0
🪸 GH: 6 – 12 dGH — keeps shells strong
🪶 KH: 3 – 8 dKH — stable, buffered water preferred
💎 TDS: 180 – 300 ppm
🏡 Tank Size: 20 L + (a few go a long way)
⏳ Lifespan: 2 – 5 years depending on conditions
✨ Please remember, all tanks differ — these parameters are for guidance only.
🍃 Feeding
They feed primarily on other small snails, but will also accept protein-rich foods, shrimp pellets, and frozen or blanched foods when natural prey is scarce.
Tip: Avoid overfeeding your tank — hungry Assassin Snails are far more effective at snail control.
✨ Peaceful, effective, and beautifully patterned — the perfect helper for shrimp keepers wanting a balanced, pest-free tank.
💛 Shrimp-safe, plant-safe, and endlessly fascinating to watch.
