Dead On Arrival (DOA) Reporting Process
In the rare case that your order arrives dead on arrival (DOA), please notify us via email within one hour of receiving your package. Additionally, within two hours, you must provide:
- One clear photograph of the deceased shrimp in its original, unopened breather bag.
- One clear photograph of the deceased shrimp in an open container, submerged in water (we will not accept photos of the shrimp out of water in the event of a casualty).
All photos must be clear and undistorted. We cannot process a claim without clear photographic evidence.
If you are not present to sign for your parcel on the agreed delivery date, all claims will be invalidated.
For higher-value shrimp, we may require you to return the deceased shrimp to us. In such cases, we will reimburse your return postage costs.
Once we verify the DOA with satisfactory evidence, we will issue a refund for the casualty to your account, which can be used for any product on our website.
Please be aware that we do not issue refunds for postage costs under any circumstances, as these are paid directly to the courier services.
Acclimatisation Procedures
Acclimating your new shrimp is crucial to ensure their survival and prosperity in your aquarium. While there are various methods, the following is our recommended procedure, which has proven most effective.
During winter, allow the shrimp bag to warm up at room temperature for at least one hour to equalise the water temperature inside the bag with that of the room.
Carefully cut open the breather bag over a small container, removing any moss or plants to ensure no shrimp are concealed within.
Employ a piece of airline tubing with an air control valve attached, or simply tie a knot in the tubing if a valve isn't available. Begin siphoning so that water drips from the tank into the container at a rate of one drip per second.
After matching the Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), continue the drip for an additional 30 minutes before netting the shrimp into your tank. The water from the container can either be discarded or returned to your tank.
We advise a total acclimation time of approximately two-four hours to fully adapt the new shrimp and prevent osmotic shock.
This singular and meticulous process is essential for the long-term success of your new shrimp.
