At Shrimp Cove, we’re all about consistency, stability, and happy shrimp — and GEILEE Shrimp Aquasoil could be the one that ticks every box.
This is a true Caridina-focused active soil, designed to gently buffer water into the soft, acidic range required for Taiwan Bees, Pintos, Fancy Tigers, and other high-grade lines. Once settled, it helps hold parameters steady without constant chasing, giving your shrimp the calm, stable environment they need for strong moults, breeding, and long-term health.
One of the big wins with GEILEE Aquasoil is how clean and predictable it behaves. It’s known for minimal to no ammonia leaching, making it suitable for experienced keepers refreshing tanks or setting up systems without nasty surprises. The porous granules also provide excellent surface area for beneficial bacteria, helping tanks mature smoothly and stay biologically balanced.
Visually, the rich dark tone makes shrimp colours absolutely pop — crisp whites, deep reds, bold patterns — while still looking natural and tidy in planted shrimp tanks.
If you want a soil that just works, supports Caridina properly, and keeps your focus on enjoying your shrimp rather than fighting parameters, this one earns its place in the tank.

🦐 How to Use GEILEE Shrimp Aquasoil (Shrimp Cove Way)
1️⃣ Do NOT Rinse the Soil
GEILEE Shrimp Aquasoil is an active substrate. Rinsing will strip away the buffering properties that help control pH.
➡️ Use it straight from the bag.
2️⃣ Add the Soil to the Tank
Spread evenly across the base of the aquarium
Recommended depth: 3–5 cm
Slope gently from back to front if aquascaping
This gives plants room to root and shrimp plenty of grazing surface.
3️⃣ Hardscape First, Plants Second
Add stones and wood before filling with water
Plant your plants directly into the dry or lightly damp soil
GEILEE holds plants well and won’t turn to mush when handled properly.
4️⃣ Fill Slowly (Very Important)
To avoid clouding:
Place a plate, plastic bag, or sponge on the soil
Pour water slowly onto it
💧 Best used with RO water + shrimp remineraliser for full control.
5️⃣ Cycling the Tank
Allow the tank to cycle fully before adding shrimp
Typical cycle time: 3–5 weeks
Test parameters regularly
GEILEE is known for low ammonia release, but cycling is still essential for shrimp safety.
6️⃣ Target Water Parameters (Caridina)
pH: 5.5 – 6.5
GH: 4 – 6 dGH
KH: 0-1
Nitrate:0-20 ppm for optimal results.
Temp: 20 – 24°C
Once settled, the soil helps hold these parameters stable.
7️⃣ Add Shrimp Slowly
When parameters are stable:
Acclimate shrimp slowly (drip method recommended)
Avoid large water changes early on
Happy soil = calm shrimp = strong moults 🦐✨
🧡 Shrimp Cove Tips
Use small, regular water changes (5–10%)
Avoid stirring or vacuuming the soil
Expect long-term buffering — replace when pH control fades (often 12–18 months depending on bioload)
